Does your company have a challenge that students could help solve? Or an idea that needs additional resources for development? Every year, several project courses start at the University of Oulu, and you can apply to become a commissioning partner.

Spring semester 2026

Company Project/Yritysprojekti, 5 credits

This course is offered simultaneously in two executions: one in Finnish and one in English. You can inquire about collaboration in either one or both versions.

Student groups will be assigned a work-life-oriented project based on a real challenge faced by a commissioning organisation. The task will be conducted as a project from January to March, as the course focuses on developing students’ project management skills, including project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting in close collaboration with the commissioning organisation. The course is part of an international bachelor’s programme in business.

What can the company expect from taking part in this project?

The commissioning organisation receives new and creative ideas, perspectives, and solution proposals from the students, along with fresh academic insight that can support the organisation’s development efforts.

What is required from the company?

• 1-2 commissioning assignments, which may include topics such as developing a communication plan or campaign, conducting a needs assessment for customer segments, performing market analysis and benchmarking, or working on a service concept development. Other types of assignments are also possible and can be discussed with the course coordinator.
• a contact person who, together with the course coordinator, monitors the progress of the project and provides support and feedback to the student group
• the contact person participates in the project’s kick-off meeting, follow-up meetings, and the closing session
• providing the necessary resources to support the student group's work

What do students receive?

The students get the opportunity to develop their project management skills in a work life -oriented development project. This includes setting goals, breaking down larger tasks into smaller components, monitoring project progress against the project plan, and assessing project risks and financial impacts. In addition, the students get to work closely with the commissioning organisation to develop new solutions to a real challenge faced by the organisation.

A quick guide to JobTeaser

1. Log in
Log in to the JobTeaser service and create a recruitment account via Job Teaser’s common publication form of 11 universities. You can manage and monitor the publication of your advertisements via your account. You can also see how many views your advertisements have gained. Old advertisements will be archived on your account.

2. Advertise jobs
You can post job and internship advertisements and offer thesis topics to students. Select the universities you wish to target your advertisement to on the posting form.

3. Receive applications
You can direct applications to your organization’s recruitment system or your own e-mail. If you choose the e-mail option, you can process applications and contact applicants through your JobTeaser account.
