Profi 8 launch event: How can we improve safety, health, and the environment in a changing world?

The University of Oulu is proud to announce the launch of its newest strategic research initiatives under the PROFI8 programme, funded by the Research Council of Finland. These pioneering programmes explore some of the most pressing challenges of our time: security, lifelong health, and Arctic environmental restoration.

Join us as we unveil three cutting-edge research themes:

  • SafeEarth – Natural and humanmade risks and societies’ responses
    SafeEarth investigates both natural and human-made risks, from cybersecurity and space threats to societal resilience.
  • Health Dimensions – Multidimensional big data and life-course health: from molecules to society
    This programme explores the causes of multimorbidity and the potential of big data to transform health and social care systems.
  • SAFIRE – Safeguarding biodiversity through interdisciplinary research on habitat restoration
    SAFIRE aims to restore degraded Arctic habitats using inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to ensure research that is both just and actionable.
