Towards entrepreneurship

Courses are a nice and easy way to get into entrepreneurship. No need to invent everything by yourself and you get study points for pursuing your goals. The variety of Entrepreneurship and Business Design minor courses offer you insights of different entrepreneurship phases and current themes like sustainability, new technologies and platforms, art and creativity and business design.

The Entrepreneurship and Business Design minor studies are open for all University of Oulu students. Students can either complete single courses or complete the entire minor (25-30 ECTS).

Entrepreneurship-related courses for students are also available from other universities. For example, basic studies in business skills are offered online for students in the LITO network.

PoC (Proof-of-Concept) funding aims to execute the first implementation of an invention or idea having commercial potential. This way you can show that the invention/idea works as planned. In the ideal situation, the invention/idea can be commercialized through a startup or by licensing it to a commercial firm.

The funding aims to increase the possibilities of creating student-based businesses. The funding is provided by the University of Oulu together with the City of Oulu.

Who can apply?

• Bachelor/Master level students of the University of Oulu.
• The team may consist of alsoalso consist of others, who are not studying at the University of Oulu.
• You cannot apply if the company is already founded.

How much funding can I apply for?

• Max. 5000 € per project proposal.

When can I apply for funding?

• Funding can be applied for as long as it is still available.
• The application period for the year 2024 was opened on November 27, 2023.
