Executive education students developed solutions for companies in Northern Finland

During the spring, students in the Oulu Business School Executive MBA programme carried out consultative development assignments for two companies in Northern Finland.

Working in three-person EMBA consulting teams, the students prepared business development plans based on the companies’ own needs and objectives. The assignments enabled the students to apply tools and perspectives gained during the EMBA programme while analysing the companies’ operating environments, processes, and opportunities for growth.

The first assignment focused on the expansion of a growth-oriented Finnish e-commerce company into the Nordic market. The development plan addressed the different stages of internationalisation as well as the logistical solutions required for expansion, including intermediate warehousing and supply chain management.

In the second assignment, the focus was on clarifying the brand and value proposition of an expert organisation. The aim was to strengthen the company’s attractiveness among potential new key employees and to support long-term growth and future ownership opportunities. The assignment also involved a critical review of the company’s operating platform and generated in-depth discussion on how artificial intelligence could be used to build future success.

The consultative assignments offer EMBA students an opportunity to apply their learning to real business challenges. At the same time, the participating companies gain fresh perspectives, analysis-based development proposals, and concrete steps for renewing and developing their operations.
