We at The Martti Ahtisaari Institute (MAI) are responsible for the international Master’s Programme in Business Analytics, the Entrepreneurship and Business Design minor, and Executive MBA (EMBA) education at Oulu Business School. In addition, the Institute provides a multidisciplinary environment for doctoral research in areas such as business analytics, digital business, entrepreneurship and responsible business. Across these areas, our education and research are closely connected to international collaboration as well as real-world business and societal challenges.

The international Master’s Programme in Business Analytics combines business, technology and data-driven problem solving in a multidisciplinary learning environment. The programme is jointly delivered by Oulu Business School and the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oulu, bringing together expertise in business, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and information systems.

The programme offers study paths in business, information systems and engineering. Students work with real-life analytics cases and develop practical competencies in data acquisition, analytics, decision-making and organisational development. Graduates are prepared for expert and leadership roles in data-driven organisations as well as for research-oriented careers and doctoral studies.

The Entrepreneurship and Business Design minor introduces students to entrepreneurial thinking, innovation and business development. The minor is open to all degree students at the University of Oulu and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, creative problem solving and the development of entrepreneurial capabilities across different fields.

Doctoral researchers at MAI work in an international and multidisciplinary research environment at the intersection of research, business and societal development. Their work contributes to both academic knowledge and real-world impact through close collaboration with research communities and external stakeholders.

Oulu Business School offers Executive MBA (EMBA) programmes through MAI. Our EMBA programmes are designed for experienced professionals and executives seeking to strengthen their strategic leadership capabilities and drive responsible business renewal in their organisations. The programmes combine academic rigour with practical relevance and are delivered primarily in Finnish.

In addition to EMBA education, Oulu Business School Executive Education provides customised short-term programmes for international university partners and organisational clients. These programmes combine lectures, workshops and company visits, offering participants insights into Nordic leadership, innovation ecosystems, sustainability and technology-driven business transformation.
