New double degree programme in the Master's programme in Biochemistry

Are you interested in pursuing an international double degree programme? Students of the University of Oulu's Master's Programme in Biochemistry will soon be able to choose a new study line, stem cell biology. The University of Oulu is organising the course together with the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. After completing your studies, you will receive a diploma from both universities.

"The stem cell biology study line is a fantastic opportunity for students, as we do not offer similar courses for them here at the University of Oulu. Similarly, students studying at the Ruhr University Bochum can come to us to study bioinformatics and molecular biology, areas in which we have strong expertise," says Dean of Education Tuomo Glumoff from the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Oulu.

Students choose a double degree at the beginning of their Master's studies. The application period for Bochum is from 2 to 16 May 2024. Students will spend the first autumn semester in Oulu and then go to Bochum for six months. The final dissertation for the double Master's degree can be written in Oulu or Bochum, and will be examined jointly by both universities.

The new degree programme has been developed in collaboration with the European University UNIC, of which both the University of Oulu and the Ruhr University Bochum are members.
