Tua Huomo, Pertti Korhonen, Lotta Leinonen, and Janne Saarikivi are new members of the University Board
Lotta Leinonen began as a new student member and Tua Huomo, Pertti Korhonen, and Janne Saarikivi as new university’s external members of the Board of Directors of the University of Oulu on January 1, 2024. The first meeting of the board will take place on Thursday, January 25 during which a chair, vice-chair, and secretary will be elected. According to the Universities Act, the Board selects the chair from among its external members.
The external members Mikko Ayub and Tiina Rajala, student member Teemu Virtanen, professor members Tiina Kinnunen and Johanna Uusimaa, as well as other teaching and research staff members Jukka Hiltunen and Kimmo Kontio are continuing in the Board. The term for all members of the Board lasts until 31 December 2025.
The new external members for the board were selected by the University Collegium in its meeting on May 31, 2023, and student representatives by the Student Council of the Student Union of the University of Oulu (OYY) in its meeting on October 17, 2023. The terms of the external members Juhani Damski, Liisa Jaakonsaari, and Kalervo Väänänen, as well as the student member Miriam Putula-Vasari, ended on December 31, 2023.
