My research focuses on team learning processes, with a particular interest in how professionals regulate their learning in informal settings. I explore how team interactions support socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL), a theory that explains how teams collectively plan, monitor, and adapt their learning strategies to manage cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and motivational challenges.

Regulation of learning refers to the intentional actions that individuals and teams take in response to new challenges, unfamiliar situations, or failures. A key component of this process is meta-level thinking, which is the ability to reflect on and manage one’s own thinking.

The practical implications of this research highlight the importance of informal learning in organizations, especially as it occurs in everyday team interactions. While many organizations invest in formal training programs, they often overlook the powerful learning that takes place informally during collaborative work. Recognizing and supporting this informal team learning can offer valuable insights for fostering meaningful, lasting transformations that drive team success in the workplace.
