Title of Docent (adjunct professor)

My research field is interactional linguistics, and I have conducted studies in multilingual and multimodal interaction. I am currently interested in how words and grammar from two languages form new constructions and how these constructions are used to perform social actions in interaction. I am currently working in the Academy of Finland project Linguistic and Bodily Involvement in Multicultural interactions. Our aim is to find out how people use language and bodily resources to communicate in multicultural encounters and how their underlying ideologies and attitudes influence their involvement in these encounters and the society at large.
I work at the University of Oulu Department of Languages and Literature where I teach Finnish and Estonian linguistics.
