Pragga Bhattacharjee
MSc
Doctoral Researcher
I am a trained medical doctor with a Master’s degree in Public Health and currently a doctoral researcher in the Life Course Medicine and Birth Cohort Research Group at the University of Oulu. My research focuses on small vulnerable newborns, particularly preterm and small for gestational age infants and their long-term and transgenerational health outcomes.
My research is closely connected to fieldwork. I coordinate projects in Malawi (LAIS) and Bangladesh (MINIMat) in collaboration with Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, University of Tampere, International Society for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh(icddr,b) and Uppsala University, working closely with local teams. My work involves extensive hands-on experience, including leading study implementation, supervising field teams and ensuring high-quality data collection.
I also serve as a Visiting Researcher at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences in Malawi. My PhD research aims to understand how early-life stressors influence adolescent health and contribute to lifelong health outcomes in low-resource settings.
