V, Ni, Cu & Zn Leaching Workshop and VanProd Final seminar
May 12 - 13, 2020
Venue: Kjeøy Research & Education Center–KREC (www.kjeoy.no)
Address: Kjeøy, Vestbygd, Lofoten, Norway
Northern Europe is expected to be the main future source of many critical elements.
Active heap or vat leaching is common in warmer climates but very few industrial
operations exist in cold regions. Leaching may need redox reactions; catalyzed by
microbes; acid-base reactions; adding ligands for complexation; or most often a
combination of these processes.
We will have a few introductory presentations by specialists in the field, followed by
ample time for discussion of both microbial and non-microbial leaching processes.
Presenters so far, more to come:
Microbial leaching of Cu and V: Dr. Mark Dopson, Linnæus Univ., Sweden
Leaching of Ni from Olivine: Dr. Ingar Walder, KREC and New Mexico Tech, USA
Metal Recovery from leachate by sorption: Dr. Tiina Leiviskä, University of Oulu, Finland
