Process Metallurgy

As a part of the Centre of Advanced Steels Research (CASR), research conducted at the Process Metallurgy Group is focused on two of the University's five thematic research focus areas: Creating sustainability by materials and systems as well as Digital solutions in sensing and interactions.

The mission of the Process Metallurgy Group is to carry out research on metallurgical and other high-temperature processes and to produce for the metallurgical industry diploma engineers and doctors, who understand and master the phenomena of high-temperature processes in the metallurgical industry. The research activities of the laboratory based on the understanding of reactions, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and mass and heat transfer phenomena in high-temperature processes. These research actions contain all the individual unit processes of steelmaking onwards from raw material handling to continuous casting of steel.
