Sustainable materials and systems

Our interdisciplinary research contributes to the sustainable and responsible use of natural resources. Our research spans from utilizing industrial side streams to reducing emissions in the steel industry and developing sustainable materials.

Research from circular economy to hydrogen potential

We promote more efficient industrial sidestream utilization and climate-friendly production methods. Also, the research on the hydrogen economy and the potential for hydrogen in advanced, sustainable steel production is our special area.

In addition to circular economy, steel and hydrogen research, our research also covers:

  • environmental technologies based on catalysis
  • pioneering methods in materials science
  • sustainable biomaterials
  • new possibilities in energy systems and transitions
  • sustainable mining and mineral exploitation
