Core skills and competence

Bachelor’s studies in Computer Science and Engineering provide a broad knowledge of computer science, for example in programming, hardware, software, artificial intelligence, data and data processing. The studies begin with the basics and therefore previous experience, for example in programming, is not necessary.

All students will learn applications of engineering mathematics, for example matrix analysis, statistics and probability theory. Students can tailor their degree to meet their own interests and career plan. You may select your major from four options: Artificial Intelligence, Applied Computing, Computer Engineering, and Cyber Security.

Both theoretical and practical studies are included in the curriculum in a balanced way. You will get practical skills through various exercise work and projects. You will learn from industry experts and get the chance to work on practical projects that mimic real tech challenges. You can see first-hand what it's like to work in a truly international industry through internships. Close collaboration exists with Oulu-based global ICT companies, such as Nokia, Oura, and Mediatek.

At the University of Oulu, you can enjoy excellent facilities.
