When can I apply?

There are two application periods for Bachelor's programmes:

October - Rolling admission
International Business Management – One applicant group: SAT- or ACT -based selection.

January - Joint application
Computer Science and Engineering – Two applicant groups: SAT-based selection and certificate-based selection

Electronics and Communications Engineering – Two applicant groups: SAT-based selection and certificate-based selection

Software Engineering and Information Systems – Two applicant groups: SAT-based selection and certificate-based selection

International Business Management – One applicant group: Certificate-based selection

Eligibility and language requirements

Am I eligible to apply?

You are eligible to apply if your qualification gives you eligibility for higher education studies at a research university in the country where it was awarded. Your eligibility depends on your educational background.

Do I meet the English language requirements?

You must demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency to apply to a Bachelor's programme. English proficiency can be demonstrated through certain types of previous education or with an accepted English language test. The required form of proof depends on your educational background.

Application and supporting documents

How do I apply?

You apply to the University of Oulu through the national Studyinfo.fi application system.

September – Rolling Admission
Apply directly to the University of Oulu through its own Rolling admission process.

January – Joint Application
Apply through the national Joint application, where you can apply to up to six degree programmes at different higher education institutions with one application form.

What documents do I need?

The supporting documents you need to submit during the application period depend on the Bachelor's programme you are applying to and your educational background.

Check the application document requirements before applying.

If you are admitted, you must submit verified versions of the documents you submitted with your application by the specified deadline. This requirement applies to all admitted applicants.

Student selection

How are students selected?

Applicants are ranked based on their SAT or ACT scores or the points calculated from the grades awarded in qualifications eligible for certificate-based selection. Study places are offered to applicants according to their ranking and the selection criteria for the Bachelor's programme.

All applicants must also meet the general eligibility requirements and the required level of English language proficiency.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

How much are the tuition fees?

At the University of Oulu, annual tuition fees vary by Bachelor's programme and range from €10,000 to €14,000. Tuition fees apply to students who are not citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.

Are there any scholarships available?

Some Bachelor's degree programmes offer an Early Bird discount for applicants who accept their study place within the specified timeframe. Some programmes also offer tuition fee waivers based on academic progress. Discounts and waivers are deducted from the annual tuition fee.
