Landscapes

Landscapes are meant to bring forth the northern mystic, without forgetting the beauty of the four seasons. Photos with rugged atmosphere and Finnish simplicity are optimal for this purpose.

Seasonal lighting is utilised creatively, using winter's low light for dramatic contrasts and summer's extended daylight for warm and ethereal tones. Highlighting snow and ice formations, capturing intricate textures such as frosted branches and frozen patterns. Showcasing northern Finland’s expansive landscapes with wide-angle shots to emphasise isolation and tranquility. Focusing on natural textures, from snow-covered pine trees to mossy rocks in summer, adds depth and richness to the images.

Moments

The versatile staff and students are shown in the pictures with tight cropping. The people in the pictures are charismatic and interesting individuals, whose lifestyle is presented.

Capturing authentic emotion through faces adds depth and connection. Using lighting to enhance contours and mood. Experimenting with angles for different perspectives and intensity. Keeping focus on the subject’s face with a shallow depth of field and incorporate reflections for additional layers. Following the rule of thirds but also modify it for creative impact.

Portraits

The staff is shown individually, in a personalised and lively way. Again, the cropping should be tight.

Capturing genuine emotions through expressive facial features. Utilising dramatic lighting to accentuate contours and set the mood. Experiment with various angles to achieve unique perspectives. Maintaining focus on the subject's face using a shallow depth of field and incorporate reflections to add dimension. Following the rule of thirds but breaking it creatively. Ensuring the environment complements the subject for a cohesive composition.
