Study psychologists provide special guidance and counselling when other student advisory services have not been of enough help.

When to contact a study psychologist?

You can book an appointment with a study psychologists if:
  • You are enrolled as a student at the University of Oulu or UniOGS or if you are an exchange student (the services are not available to Open University students).
  • If the tutor teaching and Faculty Study Services have not been helpful enough.
You can contact a study psychologist if you need help with:
  • Stalled studies or thesis work
  • Study skills
  • Time and life management
  • Procrastination
  • Perfectionism
  • Stage fright
  • Motivation issues
  • Coping with study related stress
  • Returning to studies after a long break
  • Learning and concentration disabilities (non-diagnostic)

The work of study psychologists focuses on guidance and preventive support and does not include mental health therapy or (clinical) assessment.

Study psychologist guidance is popular, so please cancel the booked time no later than 24 hours before the meeting. Uncancelled times are counted as used appointment times. There are 1 to 5 appointments per student / degree program (bachelor/master/doctor).
