SAT Test Results / GMAT or GRE Test Results

In some degree programmes applicants applying with qualification other than the Finnish matriculation examination, IB-, EB- or DIA-/RP-degree are selected in basis of SAT-test. 

These programmes are:

• International Business Management, Bachelor's Programme in International Business Management, Bachelor of Science (Economics and Business Administration) (3+2 y)
• Information Processing Science, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (3y+2y)
• Electronics and Communications Engineering, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (Technology) (3y+2y)
• Computer Science and Engineering, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (Technology) (3y+2y)

For the 2023 application round, the official score report must be received by the University of Oulu by April 10, 2023 at 15.00 / 3pm (GTM+3). Applicants who are applying with an SAT test score OR in the Certificate based selection must verify their educational documents by June 7, 2023 at 15:00 / 3pm (GMT+3):

Please note that due to changes in the SAT test system, applicants can no longer receive paper score reports from August 2022 onwards! All score reports are electronic and must be directed to the University of Oulu in the electronic system (see detailed instructions below).

Note: As there are a limited amount of study places available, achieving a minimum score does not automatically result in getting admitted. If several applicants have received the same score, the applicant with the highest score in the mathematics section of the SAT test will be admitted. Please  also note that University of Oulu does not accept SAT Superscore.

Applicant must obtain at least the total score of 1200 in following SAT categories:

1. Evidence Based Reading and Writing, and
2. Mathematics

Information Processing Science, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (3y+2y)

Applicant must obtain at least the total score of 1050 in following SAT categories:

1. Evidence Based Reading and Writing, and
2. Mathematics

Electronics and Communications Engineering, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (Technology) (3y+2y)

Applicant must obtain at least the total score of 1050 in following SAT categories:

1. Evidence Based Reading and Writing, and
2. Mathematics

Computer Science and Engineering, Degree Programme in Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics, Bachelor and Master of Science (Technology) (3y+2y)

Applicant must obtain at least the total score of 1050 in following SAT categories:

1. Evidence Based Reading and Writing, and
2. Mathematics

Please  note that University of Oulu does not accept SAT Superscore.

• if you are using SAT as a proof of English language skills for a Bachelor's  Programme,  remember to attach a copy of your SAT score report on your application ! 
• If you are NOT using SAT as a proof of English language skills but are applying with SAT to a programme that requires them, then you need to state the date of your SAT test on your application. 
• All official results of the SAT tests must be delivered to University of Oulu directly from the test organizer in one of these two ways:
  • You can order an electronic score report to be sent to University of Oulu
    • University of Oulu ID code (9079) must be included in the SAT registration form.
  • OR You can order a paper score report to be sent by post to University of Oulu directly form the test organizer. 
    • Please note that due to changes in the SAT test system, applicants can no longer receive paper score reports from August 2022 onwards!
• If you have completed more than one SAT test, only the test with the highest total score (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Mathematics sections) will be considered. University of Oulu does not accept SAT Superscore.
• If you have taken the tests earlier you must order the score report to be sent to the University of Oulu directly form the test organizer.
• Only SAT tests taken after 2016 are acceptable.

For the 2023 application round, the official score report must be received by the University of Oulu by April 10, 2023 at 15.00 / 3pm (GTM+3).

Please note that SAT-tests can be fully booked before the final registration date, so please make sure to register for the test well in advance. University of Oulu does not organize SAT tests or answer inquiries concerning the tests. More information on taking the SAT tests in Finland  and abroad.

Applicants who are applying with an SAT test score must verify their educational documents  by June 7, 2023 at 15:00 / 3pm (GMT+3):

Oulu Business School

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are standardized tests for business school applicants. Test results are used as part of selection process in Oulu Business School's degree programmes. Also GMAT online exam and GRE general test at home are accepted.

• Sufficient test score is mandatory for applying to:
  • Business Analytics
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Financial and Management Accounting

Note: Applications without GMAT or GRE results will not be considered for evaluation.

• Sufficient test score is optional to gain additional points for:
  • International Business Management
  • Marketing

Based on the GMAT or equivalent GRE test score, following points are given to the application:

score 650 or more = 5 points

score 599 - 649 = 3 points

score 550 - 599 = 2 points

For GMAT, only the total score (including quantitative section and verbal section) is taken into consideration for the evaluation. For GRE, only verbal reasoning score and quantitative reasoning score are considered.

Note: If an applicant with a lower total score than 550 provides an especially successful application (sections 1 previous studies and 2 motivation), the applicant may be considered for admission.

Please note that you are required to:

• Attach a copy of your results to your online application
• Order your results to be sent to the University of Oulu from the test institution

Test result is valid for 5 years. For 2023 admission, tests taken on 4th January 2018 at the earliest are accepted.
