Project description

The project is based on the identified challenge that family businesses often face particular difficulties related to intergenerational cooperation, technological change, and employee engagement.

The project begins with an assessment of participating companies’ current leadership practices and employee experiences, which forms the basis for a practical training programme. The training provides concrete tools for change leadership, conflict management, improving interaction, and utilizing technology. In addition, companies are offered the opportunity for confidential mentoring, focusing on tailored, company-specific solutions. The activities emphasize peer learning and co-creation, and all digital training materials will be published openly for wider use.

The expected impacts include improved leadership and human resource management practices, stronger change capability, enhanced well-being at work, and a more network-oriented organizational culture within family businesses. In the long term, the project aims to strengthen companies’ resilience, competitiveness, and employee commitment, while also supporting regional development objectives in Northern Ostrobothnia.

The project is implemented by Centria University of Applied Sciences (lead partner), the Municipality of Liminka, and the MicroENTRE research group at the Kerttu Saalasti Institute of the University of Oulu. It is funded also by Kerttu Saalasti Foundation.

The total funding for the group project is €385,886, of which €308,709 is EU funding. The total budget for the University of Oulu is €83,629, of which €66,903 is EU funding.
