About the project

The genetics of quantitative variation and the factors influencing patterns of the variation are important issues in evolutionary biology, plant and animal breeding, and medicine. Plant population geneticists and statistical geneticists develop genomic and statistical approaches to study the genetics of environmental adaptation, with emphasis on Scots pine and Arabidopsis. The population genetic approaches and related statistical methods will be applicable to other systems. The results can be used in tree breeding and in managing plant populations facing climate change. The statistical methods and tools are developed for a broad set of problems, in human, animal, and plant populations.
