Starting your studies

Important dates for accepted students

To confirm your study place at UniOulu, please make sure to follow the deadlines set by the University of Oulu. Please see the correct deadlines page depending on whether you are accepted to a bachelor's or a master's programme.

In addition to the deadlines stated on the pages linked below, please make sure to apply for a residence permit in time. If you are required to get a residence permit to Finland, start the process immediately as it may take 1-3 months to receive the permit. For more information, please see the Finnish Immigration Service webpage.

Things to do before arriving

  1. Remember to organise your housing in Oulu.
  2. Apply for a residence permit if you are required to have it to study in Finland.
  3. Healthcare fee for degree students and how to pay it
  4. Activate your student account
  5. Pay the student union fee, and activate your student card
  6. Check out the orientation week schedules
  7. Download Tuudo mobile application and follow the news channel for new students.
  8. Upon your arrival to Oulu, present your original degree documents to Academic Affairs.
