Environment 2016: Eco-processes, remediation and/or recovery of waste and effluents for a sustainable environment symposium was held between February 17-19, 2016 in El Jadida, Morocco. The first international symposium organized by No Waste project gathered more than 100 researchers from Morocco, Finland, France, Germany, Brazil, Yemen, Algerie, and Egypt. During the symposium 10 Keynote lectures were held in addition to 39 oral and 41 poster presentations. The presentations were divided to remediation and/or recovery of liquid effluents, gas effluents and solid waste. The project reached important visibility during this event and similar events are already planned by the Moroccan partners. Arising public awareness on the environment is one important task of No-Waste. Moroccan national TV was following the event and several researchers were interviewed improving the visibility of environmental research for Moroccan public. Nine members of the Environmental and Chemical Engineering research unit participated the conference. No Waste project is financed by FP7 Marie Curie Actions and coordinated by the Environmental and Chemical Engineering research unit.
