Environmental and Chemical Engineering

The Environmental and Chemical Engineering (ECE) Research Unit develops solutions for a sustainable future by combining materials and chemical research with practical process technologies. The unit brings together five complementary research areas, ranging from environmental engineering and catalysis to separation processes, inorganic chemistry, and control engineering.

The research focuses on key themes of the green transition, such as emission reduction, carbon dioxide utilization, hydrogen and e-fuels, and energy-efficient processes and their optimization. This research work has a direct impact on climate change mitigation, sustainable water use, raw material availability, and industrial competitiveness.
