Highlights of the Thule Institute's Research Program 2012 - 2015

Thule Science Days will include keynotes on the topical issues and present the highlights of the Thule Institute’s research program 2012-2015, and give floor to the presentations of researchers and doctoral students at the university and the research institutes in Oulu.

The Science Days will introduce the call for new research groups following new organization and strategy of the University of Oulu. Information and possibilities about the Arctic research networks will also be presented.

Thule Science Days will focus on three main themes, People in the North, Climate Change and the Environment, and Sustainable Resources Management.

Seminar language is English.

Call for abstracts

All the participants are invited to submit one to four pages abstracts on their research / research plan. All abstracts will be published in the seminar abstract book and on the seminar web page.

Please submit your abstract (with preference of oral/poster presentation) as a word file, including possible figures, using template by e-mail to thule(at)

The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to October 9, 2015. Notification of acceptance will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author by October 14, 2015.


Program outline

The keynotes, oral and poster presentations will serve as a basis for the seminar program and discussions. The Science Days includes a half-day workshop on Research Career Planning. The workshop also provides an opportunity to present doctoral student research plans.

The event is free of charge, coffees in the program are included, lunches at own cost.
