Scientists of the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory co-operate routinely with some 50 institutes around the world. Some of our collaborations are only for the duration of a specific project, while some other connections have persisted for decades. Our main collaborators within Finland are based at the Space Physics Group (SPG) of the Dept of Physics, University of Oulu, as well as at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) both in Helsinki as well as at FMI's Arctic Space Centre (former Arctic Research Center ), which, together with our observatory, forms Sodankylä Space Center.
While SGO receives about two thirds of its funding from the Finnish Ministry of Culture and Education, one third is funded by external project grants. The most important funding agencies for SGO are the Academy of Finland and the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission.
