The President of the Republic of Finland visited the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory

The President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö visited the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory, located in Tähtelä, on Thursday March 5th. The President got acquainted with the new Situational Awareness Center with SGO's Director Eija Tanskanen. During the visit the President was briefed about the diverse and comprehensive tasks carried out at the observatory, which include the monitoring and research of space storms, the long-term magnetic measurements that have been carried out since 1914, and vital monitoring of geo risks and GPS interference.
