Heta Helakari works as a neuroimaging teacher and international coordinator in Biomedical Engineering degree programme. In research, at the moment, she studies psychotic disorders in Oulu Functional Neuroimaging (OFNI) group. She has ten years experience in the neuroimaging field, especially focusing on the glymphatic clearance system of the brain in health and disease. In her thesis, she focused on brain pulsations during sleep.
Heta is attracted understanding neurosciences and wants to produce novel information concerning human brain physiology and pathologies. Her main goal is to find ways to prevent severe brain diseases and develop technologies for more effective diagnostics and treatment.
In future, Heta especially wants to build the bridge between science and real practice. We are producing enormous amount of information: how could we make this matter in real life of patients?
