Pekka Tervonen

Pekka is Research Director in Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) since 2021. He is also acting as Programme Director in Oulu Innovation Alliance since 2021. He was Research Professor 2018-2020 and also the director of Smarter & Greener Industry Innovation Ecosystem in Oulu Innovation Alliance 2018-2022. Pekka has been working in University of Oulu since 2012. During 2012-2017 he worked as the director of Centre for Environment and Energy (CEE). Pekka also has over 17 year experience of managing positions in steel industry, mainly in Business and Operational Excellence, Innovation Management, Circular Economy Management and ESSQ Management. Pekka graduated on D.Sc. (Tech.) in Industrial Engineering and Management in 2010 in University of Oulu. He received his docentship in University of Oulu 2016 in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management especially System-Oriented and Integrated Management Systems, Continuous Improvement and Innovation Activities. He also received his docentship in University of Eastern Finland 2025 in the field of Innovation Management especially Circular Economy Management. He was nominated as Academician of International Research Academy of Sciences and Art IRASA 2025 for the Social and Humanistic Scientific Field.
